about

DELTASOUND were born in 2006. Four of them. They like the Prodigy, Spiritualized, Death from above 1979, Bloc Party and Cave In.

They went to the Lake District to get to know each other better. They got very, very intoxicated, some of them fell in a stream. They got told off for swearing in the pub. They made friends with 78% of the village and played a sort of gig in the front room of a rented house. They smashed a drum kit. 18% of the village complained about the noise. 4% were out of the village that weekend.

They made their first EP in November 2006. It turned out quite well so went back two months later and did some more. It turned out very well.

They played their first (proper) gig in February 2007. Some of them grew beards.

They played every farm house, dog house, public house, whore house, hen house and old folks home up and down the country. They made lots of friends along the way. They made another 2 EP’s along the way.

They did their first national tour at the end of 2008. They played everywhere, they slept in a van, they slept on floors, they got lost in a car park in Edinburgh. They played to big crowds and small crowds, played with great bands and gash bands. They smashed an amp on stage in Newcastle. They didn’t get the deposit back on the tour van.

In October 2009 the quadruplet became a triplet. The two couples became a threesome. They lost a stooge. One cuckoo flew the nest. Someone left.

The final 3 musketeers carried on regardless.
They got frustrated. They all agreed they were quite worried and very convinced that the world would end in 2012. This bothered them but figured there wasn’t much they could do.

They broke up. But couldn’t resist going back for one last gig. They were offered a record deal with an indie label on the strength of that last gig.

They said “Aye gan on then, we were getting awfully bored with the idea of not playing in the band”.

They became four again when an Odd Shaped Headed drummer joined. He played synth and guitar of course. They already had a drummer and had grown fond of him by this point.

They started recording their debut album in January 2011 with Newcastle based producer Richard McCoull and his f*ck off big dog.

June 10th they will release their debut single ‘Probably’. The album will be ready for the previously mentioned apocalypse.
